I'm Learning...

Just skip the plane ride and overnight me!

Thanks for your hard work with planning and decorating, Aunt Kelly!

My first plane ride!

Finally home...
Where to start?

The homecoming was wonderful, and Brayden was a real ham with the crowd of people at the airport and in our home, but Saturday morning came and it was just the three of us.

I noticed a definite sadness in him, and just figuring that he was missing his foster family and all that was familiar to him, I gave him extra love and quiet time. I was careful to make sure that play time was focused and soothing.

So Sunday comes, and he is without a doubt sad. We wondered if he were sick--it must be his teeth bothering him, or maybe he has an earache because it keeps pulling at his left ear.

This went on for hours. When my parents called to see if we would be home for a visit, I wondered if it would be good for him to be with other people right now...and then my mom brought a friend...and then Jason's cousin came...and then our neighbors stopped by...and then another set of neighbors...and then Jason's parents...and Brayden was back to normal.

Normal? How could that be? Wouldn't a baby in a new environment with new people need structure and quiet? Not mine.

In retrospect, Brayden has lived the nine months of his life in a small apartment with four adults, another baby, and a cat. And these adults are loud and rough and interactive ALL THE TIME! No wonder he was sad...we were boring him to death!

So I'm finally getting it, and he is doing soooo much better.

We went to church today, and he really liked it: the music, the noise, the people...even as sleepy as he was, he had a ball. He especially liked looking at the pretty girls who sat behind us...I'm really in for it, I think!

I forgot to take pictures, but he looked quite handsome in his new outfit he received from his Great Aunt Mary. I'll be sure to post one next time he wears it.

No more pacifying and petting--from now on, it's singing and dancing all the time!

Mrs. Hill,
He is adorable. I love the first picture. "Over night me!" I am so happy for you and your family. I missed your visit today, but I heard he was a very wonderful kid. I can't wait to see you. Congratulations. Take care and may God bless.
