Where We've Been

This week has been a long one because Brayden was sick for the first time.

He ran a low grade fever when he had his first round of shots in October, but we think he had a full blown virus Monday through Thursday or so. He was feeling fair, so I took him to church with me on Tuesday, and within minutes of arriving, it became clear that he was feeling miserable. So I decided to have prayer for him and to take him home to rest. As soon as we walked into the kitchen (and thank you, Lord, that it wasn't at church or in the car), he literally exploded all over the place. I had never known so much could come out of one little person, but it did. Even with giving him ibuprofen, he ran a fever that night of 104. He looked lifeless at times, but even through the misery, he could look up and smile.

We are thankful he is back to his normal happy, energetic, hungry, loving self!

He slept this way Wednesday night--I think it's so cute when babies sleep with their rears in the air!

This time last year, we were planning our visit trip to Guatemala. I can remember packing and re-packing our bags, just to make sure we had everything we needed. Brayden's suitcase was as large as ours (hoping we could slip him in it and bring him home with us!). At that time, we had never kissed his round cheeks or gazed into his deep eyes, but that difficult wait seems but a distant memory.
