We "Gotcha" One Year Ago Today...

New Year's Day 2007, you entered the world and changed our lives forever.

We officially began your adoption when you were sixteen days old.

When you were three and a half months old, we gazed into your deep onyx eyes for the first time.

We did not see them again for another five and a half...but when we did YOU WERE ALL OURS.

October 19th, exactly 365 days after we began the adoption, you were home--in your state, in your house, in your family's arms.

Today, we love you beyond words.

*You are a focused, contemplative boy. You devote your attention fully to the task at hand.

*You like order in your life, including a schedule and routine; however, you can be flexible when necessary.

*Although your temper does not surface frequently, it's there! At the age of 21 months old, you had your first (and only?) tantrum.

*You often role play with your toys, wrapping them in blankets for sleep or putting them in time out for misbehaving.

*You have a deep bond with the people in your life. You are also becoming more comfortable with less frequent visitors, but it has been slow coming. You don't tend to trust easily (which can be a good trait in life!)

*If you don't care for people, they know it! You frown at them and staunchly refuse their advances.

*You have a remarkable memory. I threw away your old toothbrush recently, and every morning since then, you reenact the scenario by taking your new one to the trash can and babbling.

What a difference a year makes!

Wow! Happy anniversary!!! I didn't know or I would have congratulated you today at church! He looked so handsome too! He is just as adorable in person as he is in the pictures! It was great to see you. We will most likely be back, at least occasionally. Love you guys!

Great post and what a big boy! I love the pic of him in his goggles. Don't you just love him more and more each day/week/month ...it's strange how that happens.
