So the Guatemalan Embassy is scheduled to take a vacation. For the entire month of March. Some banking conference and President Bush's PR visit merit over three weeks of nothing? We are waiting for the DNA results to come back--next week, hopefully--and then our lawyer should apply for pre-approval for a Visa. Unfortunately, that request can't happen until the Embassy is back up and running, and my suspicion is that they will probably be so backed up that who knows when things will happen. Then, in April, the Embassy closes for Holy Week, so there's another week lost. How long could a piece of paperwork possibly take?
Tammy says that nothing like this has happened before, so they don't want to speculate on the kinds of disruptions this could cause.
Lord, I know that you have a timetable for us. The kinds of disruptions we encounter are simply part of this larger plan, and I need to the grace to handle this. Please grant me the kind of peace I have had since we first began this adoption, and help me to "be anxious for nothing, but in all things, by prayer and supplication, let my request be made known."
If the situation is not going to change,
please change me in the situation. Amen.
