Okay, I'm sure people have the best intentions when they ask how the adoption is going. It's kind of them to ask, to remind us that they are waiting to meet him, but BOY CAN PEOPLE BE INSENSITIVE. I literally had a woman arguing with me the other day about how much I've missed so far in his life--I was trying to downplay the important events that occur in the first year, pointing out that there will be many firsts in his life that we WILL get to experience. She, on the other hand, felt it necessary to argue that there is SO much we have missed. Tonight at my great aunt's funeral, I had three family members in the space of about 30 seconds remark that Brayden is going to be grown by the time we get him. I am sure they are just criticizing the length adoptions are taking these days, but it is a bitter reminder that we have missed out.It seems that even when I am okay with our current situation, others want to make it worse! Leave us alone!!! So what if he already has a mustache! :-]
