Now That You're Two...

life is really interesting! You are learning at lightning speed, and we have a hard time keeping up! Already your questions baffle us at times.

You are definitely a person of order. You are fine with routine, even to the point of boring. Boring is predictable for you, and that makes you comfortable. Your deep sense of order shows up in the way you line up all of your vehicles (including cars, trucks, buses, helicopters, trains and tractors)in VERY straight lines, all facing the same direction. You like toys to be grouped together, like only the blocks go in the block bag, and only vehicles go in the red basket. If someone happens to put a different toy in, you are quick to spot the error and correct it.

You are opening up to other people in your life, but it has been slow coming. You smile more often at strangers and initiate conversation with them, but you still want us with you in public. We don't have to worry about you running off in a store or restaurant, but we are eager to see you feel safe even when we are not in eyeshot--like the church nursery, for example.

Your enunciation has improved (for the most part. I should make a list of the more humorous ones :-] ), and you are saying new words daily. Currently, your favorite words are "icky," "holy," and "mine."

You have a great sense of balance. You can climb on top of the wobbly Sit-and-Spin without falling; your little toes grip like talons to keep you up!

We spent so much time during your first year with us saying no and establishing boundaries that we don't have to do it so often anymore. You understand limits, and you operate within them quite well.

So far, the twos have been terrific! Friends are warning us of the "thunderous threes," so we'll have to see for ourselves...
